Football as a social bridge
Football comes up constantly in Bolivia, and it’s an easy bridge into a group, but it’s only one option, not a test. You don’t have to play, pick a famous team, or pretend to know the league. Saying “me gusta mirar” or even “no conozco mucho, ¿me explicas?” works great and invites people to share. A “picadito” at the cancha is welcoming to all skill levels.
