Bolivian Spanish word

la frazada

Meaning: the blanket

How it is used in Bolivia

The Bolivian word for a blanket, 'manta' is understood, but beds, hostels and buses come with frazadas. On night routes, '¿dan frazada?' is a standard passenger question.

'Frazada' is the highland word for a bed blanket (elsewhere you'll also hear 'cobija'). On a cold Copacabana night an extra one is worth asking for, hostales keep spares for guests.
