The most important habit is separating included costs from aparte costs, because the real monthly total can be quite different from the headline rent. Listings rarely give the exact address, so it is normal to ask for the ubicación by WhatsApp before arranging a visit.
Essential vocabulary
- mensual: monthly Listings show the price as “Bs 2.800 mensual”, find the monthly rent first.
- amoblado: furnished A key listing word that changes the value a lot, check it before comparing prices.
- aparte: separate / not included Flags hidden costs, “luz, agua e internet aparte” means you pay them on top.
- incluidas: included The opposite of aparte, “Expensas incluidas” tells you what the rent covers.
- garantía: deposit / guarantee Spot the upfront cost, the listing says “Garantía: 1 mes”.
- disponible desde: available from Tells you the move-in date, “disponible desde el 15 de julio”.
- monoambiente: studio apartment The listing’s apartment type, a single-room studio, not a multi-room flat.

Bolivian Spanish terms
- expensas: monthly building fees Standard in Santa Cruz buildings; this listing says they are included, but many are not.
