Locking in the visit
Once your questions are answered and the place still looks good, the visit is coordinated by WhatsApp. Propose a specific day, part of day and time politely with “¿Le parece...?”, and ask for the ubicación, since landlords usually share a WhatsApp map pin rather than a written address. In Bolivia you will hear “en la mañana / en la tarde” for parts of the day. If plans change, reschedule briefly and clearly, a short apology plus a new day (“Disculpe, el viernes no puedo. ¿Podemos pasarlo al sábado?”) is enough. Sending a short confirmation the day before (“Le escribo para confirmar la visita de mañana a las 10”) is normal and appreciated, so nobody’s time is wasted.
Essential vocabulary
- ¿le parece?: does that work for you? The polite way to propose a day/time, “¿Le parece el sábado en la mañana?”.
- coordinar: to arrange / coordinate The verb for setting up the visit, “¿Podemos coordinar la visita?”.
- ubicación: location Ask where to go, “¿Me puede pasar la ubicación, por favor?”.
- confirmar: to confirm Confirm the day before, “Le escribo para confirmar la visita de mañana.”
- nos vemos: see you Friendly way to seal the plan, “Nos vemos el sábado a las 10.”
- el sábado: Saturday / on Saturday Name the day with ‘el’, “el sábado en la mañana”, “el viernes a las 3”.
- en la mañana: in the morning Add the part of day to a proposal, pair with la tarde for afternoon.
- no puedo: I can’t Reschedule politely, “Disculpe, el viernes no puedo. ¿Podemos pasarlo al sábado?”.
- pasarlo al: to move it to Propose a new day when plans change, “¿Podemos pasarlo al sábado?”.
Bolivian Spanish terms
- pasar la ubicación: to send the location (WhatsApp pin) ‘Pasar la ubicación’ usually means sharing a WhatsApp map pin, the normal way to share an address.
- en la mañana: in the morning (Bolivian usage) In Bolivia ‘en la mañana / en la tarde’ is very common where Spain often uses ‘por la mañana’.
- Quedo atento/a: polite WhatsApp sign-off A natural close after confirming a visit; ‘atento’ for men, ‘atenta’ for women.
- ¿Le parece?: does that suit you? (usted) Using the usted form with a landlord you don’t know yet sounds polite in Santa Cruz.
Useful phrases
- ¿Le parece el sábado en la mañana?: Does Saturday morning work for you? Propose a specific day and time politely.
- ¿Me puede pasar la ubicación, por favor?: Can you send me the location, please? Get the exact address before going.
- Disculpe, el viernes no puedo. ¿Podemos pasarlo al sábado?: Sorry, I can’t on Friday. Can we move it to Saturday? Reschedule politely without leaving the plan vague.
- Perfecto, nos vemos el sábado a las 10.: Perfect, see you Saturday at 10. Confirm the agreed day and time clearly.
- Le escribo para confirmar la visita de mañana.: I’m writing to confirm tomorrow’s visit. Confirm the day before so nobody’s time is wasted.
- ¿Cuándo se puede visitar?: When can it be visited? Open the scheduling when no day has been proposed yet.
