Six chapters of a 3-day Salar de Uyuni and Southwest-lagunas jeep tour, booked at an agency counter in Uyuni: read a 1-day and a 3-day flyer side by side to compare, ask the clerk exactly what is included and which park fees are paid separately, work out the cold, sun and altitude gear by asking Don Mario, read the jeep-day itinerary, message the agency when the rainy season changes the route, and close a calm remote breakdown on the way back from the lagunas, asking the right questions at every step, and never a tour, jeep or road called safe or dangerous.

    Start at the Ruta de Sal counter with two flyers, a 1-day Salar-only tour at Bs 250 and a 3-day / 2-night Salar + lagunas tour at Bs 1000, reading them side by side to compare what each visits, where you sleep and when you get back, then asking the clerk (usted) exactly what is included and which fees are paid apart.

  3. Exactly what the tour includes

    Before you pay, ask the clerk exactly what the 3-day tour includes, and which park fees, like Isla Incahuasi and the REA, are paid separately.

  4. Cold, sun and altitude: what to bring

    A few days before the tour, ask Don Mario what to pack for the cold and sun, and, for the high lagunas, where a pharmacy is in Uyuni.

  5. The jeep day: reading the itinerary sheet

    Read the Day 1 jeep itinerary and ask Don Mario the plain questions, the pickup time, the stops, how long at each, the bathroom and fuel stops.

  6. The weather changed the route

    It is the rainy season, message the agency to ask why the route changed, what the alternative is, whether you will see the mirror, and about rescheduling.

  7. The jeep stopped (closing the Salar trip)

    On the way back the jeep stops in a remote stretch, ask Don Mario what happened, tell your hotel you will be late, and ask about your onward bus.

  8. Out to the lagunas, calm and asking
