How it is used in Bolivia

A distinctly Bolivian housing arrangement, well known in La Paz: a big lump sum, refunded later, paid to live in a property instead of monthly rent. It is not a purchase. Some houses are offered en anticrético alongside a straight sale, and fichas sometimes mention it alongside or instead of 'crédito bancario'.

Amounts are often quoted, agreed or discussed in dollars, so ask which currency and confirm it: ask and verify.

Recognising the word matters more than using it, even if you want a classic rental or the ficha in front of you is a plain sale, so that a listing can never confuse you.
