From Aymara ch'akhi and Quechua ch'aki, 'dry'. Colloquial but not vulgar: people say 'tengo chaqui' or 'estoy con chaqui' the morning after a fiesta, often with a laugh.
Knowing the word is about understanding, not about drinking: when a colleague explains a slow morning with 'estoy con chaqui', a kind '¡que se mejore!' is all the reply it needs. Saying no to a drink is always fine in Bolivia.
